Skills
Power BI, Communication skills, working with a global team
Responsibilities
Yes, maybe too much with regard to my project as I was not skilled to work on a rolling project with a lot of responsibility but insufficient access and very limited support. I was responsible for arranging all of my visits which made me quite proud that I was able to see a lot of the business and ask questions.
Support & Guidance
My guidance was quite limited and I often found I difficult to describe what I was struggling with due to the limited access.
Culture
A little quite in my office but overall very sociable and friendly and keen to let you get the best out of the experience.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed meeting new people, asking questions about the business cost cutting and sending emails to request emails as everybody was so keen to help. Also, I visited many testbeds so it was great to compare against Testbed 80 and the Ultra Fan. I also participated in a photoshoot which was great fun! I have enjoyed my placement lots but I wish I had weekly deadlines in different locations so that you improve your chances of finding a mentor that suits the intern and to expand their knowledge unless they are keen to work on a specific area. Freya Bexon was an AMAZING role model and helped me to find accommodation, go on tours and even STEM events. Here confidence and personality were absolutely inspiring and she was highly approachable. I reckon she will play a strong part it the future of RR - Extremely proactive.
