    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I worked within the Corporate Investment Banking Division and had to work on a project from scratch. I used to have daily scrum meetings and had same level of responsibilities as an graduate. We had socials in each month during our internship where we used to network with others and learn more about other lines of businesses. I was required to code for a project from scratch and followed team's agile method of working.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yeah, I learnt so much new stuff during my internship. Firstly, J.P. Morgan has many networking sessions for its interns where get to meet and interact with people from other lines of businesses. Agile methodology was another thing I learnt here, having daily scrum meetings and having to work with Jira, having sprints and doing a sprint planning & reviews along the way. I got equipped with multiple new tech stack as well, which includes multiple languages, tools, frameworks, databases, etc.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Our responsibilities were same as that as of a full time software engineer. We got to attend meetings everyday with them and worked on code which actually goes into production. We had daily standup meetings with the team, which were based out of London and New York offices and towards the end of our presentation, we were asked our project to the entire senior management at the bank. We got an opportunity to work with the product teams as well.
