  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On an average working day I would be communicating with all the relevant people within the team to try to support customer journey through the ways we include our customers by providing them with all the relevant information required to make informed decisions about choosing us.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed my commercial awareness as well as my business acumen. I have learnt appropriate ways to communicate within a work place and how to address different members of the company from my peers through to my seniors. I have also developed my time management and independence when working remotely. I have further improved my confidence when presenting in front of large audiences.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given so much responsibility and autonomy throughout the placement and allowed to explore different ideas without constant micro management. The independence and trust placed on me and my skills helped me to learn and develop at an accelerated rate. This also made my opinions and input feel valued and appreciated. My opinions were always regarded highly and I was free to explore these as I desired.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My line manager provided me with continuous support as well as being given a grad talent manager. Having both a peer and senior person available for guidance gave me opportunity to go to different people dependent on the individual concern I had. The intern leader also offered great support. Everyone was just a teams message away throughout! Great Support throughout!

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The atmosphere through the company was great with everyone being consistently kind and friendly across he business. The support and guidance across the board was great and the warmth from every person I encountered was great. The teams were all diverse and welcomed people from all walks of life which was fantastic. Inclusive and Lovely!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed the whole of my placement- My line manager specifically made my experience along with the rest of the years intern cohort. These were great friends to me and supported me throughout- making the entire experience so fun! I did not however enjoy the remote learning and cost to travel to the office if I did want to work within the business. Provided accommodation could perfect the experience!

  • Yes


  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Centrica
  • I would advise people to get stuck in from the get go and try to get involved in as many meetings and calls as possible. Network throughout the company where possible to gain insight into the different roles and opportunities within the business. Try to meet as many people as possible and get your face known!
