Overview
Record daily KPIs of headcount and improvement ideas of the plant. Pay invoices to suppliers through SAP and be the contact of many suppliers. Track and record holiday and training forms. Answer general inquiries and help out when necessary. Support the team and HR manager when requested.
Skills
I have learnt and developed many skills especially communication skills. Due to answering general inquiries every day and also having to speak to suppliers regularly this has massively increased confidence when answering enquiries and on the phone. I have learnt to manage workload and increase time management as there are usually multiple tasks due and have to ensure all are completed on time to a high standard
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility as was the contact for many suppliers. I also helped to run many events including large celebrations at site where I helped to plan and book suppliers for the event and also help run the actual event on the day.
Support & Guidance
I had lots of support from my team for majority of the placement especially the HR graduate which I worked closely with. There were always people to speak to if there were issues or enquiries.
Culture
Company culture demonstrated the focus on continuous improvement so felt like there were improvements occurring through the year. There were lots of charity events and also events happening throughout the year which meant that you got to celebrate with all colleagues especially some that you may not usually get to spend time with. There were social events within the student and graduate team which helped to get to know each other.
Your Impressions
I did enjoy the placement as it taught me lots of skills and exposed me to lots of situations which i have never been in before. I also think the team was very supportive so felt like you could ask any questions. I also think the fast paced environment of the business always kept me busy and I always had something to do which is very valuable.
Yes
I think you need to be prepared to have a lot of responsibility within the business as I believe that you are seen as a valuable employee rather than just a placement student. I also would recommend to get to know as many people as you can so that your placement is as enjoyable as possible.
