Overview
The Purchasing role involves the management of all part prices in the companies portfolio. These can regularly fluctuate based on a number of factors which are analysed and implemented on a day to day basis. There is also a continued focus on the reduction of these prices in the form of productivity actions to lead to savings. The role also requires you to work closely with the supplier base daily to ensure the ability to supply.
Skills
I have gained a broad understanding of the different process involved in the serial life and aftermarket of various programs in production. This role has also allowed me to develop my excel skills to an advanced level. On top of this I am now proficient in many purchasing related programs. Having worked closely with numbers on a day to day basis i have also developed my numerical analysis skills and the ability to present this.
Responsibilities
Yes, whilst being regularly supported by colleagues across various department you are expected to take on responsibility with various projects that you lead along with request that you may receive from an internal or external source.
Support & Guidance
I received a great deal of support and guidance throughout the entirety from many colleagues and they had no problems in doing so. This support really helped improve my skillset in a range of areas.
Culture
There is a good company culture at Faurecia. As a placement student there are multiple other students and graduates across all departments who you will be able to form relationships with.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement experience. It has allowed me to develop many skills which I am sure I will use in my future career. It has also provided me with industry knowledge related to automotive which in the current climate of the automotive industry is invaluable.
