Overview
Majority of the internship is shadowing. Depending on what desk your at, you shadow and network with the people there. On the credit s&t desk, we did trade pitches (1-2 a week). You are encouraged to leave your desk and chat with different people.
Skills
Pricing trades, Excel, familiarity with bloomberg, teamwork, networking, financial modeling, etc
Responsibilities
No, no responsibility. Interns are not allowed to communicate with clients and I was learning more than I was actually working.
Support & Guidance
People were very willing to help, especially since I was new to finance. My managers on the different desks were awesome and we had designated mentors throughout the program.
Culture
People were generally positive and supportive. Although not friends outside of work for the most part, they would often go for drinks after work and invite interns. Generally positive, I enjoyed the culture
Your Impressions
I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Was a great summer and I've learned a ton. Truly awesome experience I recommend. Exceeds expectations and really got a feel for the company.
Yes
Networking is the most important thing- I didn't do spring week but I highly recommend. Try to stand out but also be yourself. Show them what is different about you.
