    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Day to Day depends solely on the team that you are assigned for the internship. My day to day consists of writing and testing production code for my project as well as having meeting with your team about upcoming projects. As interns you are also assigned a group intern project which takes up approximately 50% of your time so your day can be split on those two tasks or it can alternate every other day

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learned tones of new skills throughout the internship but as mentioned previously it does depends on what team you get assigned. Personally, I got the chance to develop my Java skills as well as learn new technologies such as SpringBoot and Karate. Throughout the intern project I got the chance to develop my Python skills as well as learn new skills and technologies such as Natural Language Processing, REST API's and Web Scraping

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Again, like mentioned before, this varies depending on what team you get assigned. Personally I was given a lot of responsibility from the outset as I was responsible for developing and testing features of my project and my team relied on me to get these features to production. Also, during the intern project it is very open ended, so you have a lot of personal responsibility to produce a working project that you can present at the end of the placement.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance throughout my internship. My team especially were always available whether that was in person or online, to answer and question or query no matter how big or small it was. My team also had a daily stand up call where you could voice any problem you might have had during the day or from a previous day. The HR support was also great throughout the entire 9 week internship.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture at Deutsche Bank was great. Going into my role I expected a very different culture than it was. Being part of the Technology Data and Innovation team especially had a very chill atmosphere, there was no pressure to deliver a lot of work as an intern, as long as you had a willingness to learn and were present when they needed you to be then you would fit into the team. The working hours were normal unlike some other investment banks

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with Deutsche Bank. It not only allowed me to develop my current technical skills but gave me the opportunity to learn some new ones. The team that I was assigned played a huge part in the enjoyment of the internship. They always assigned me work that they thought I would enjoy and always checked in with me to see if I was still happy with what I was doing. Overall the internship was really enjoyable

  • 7. Would you recommend Deutsche Bank to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
  • In terms of a CV and Cover letter, you will want to tailor it to the company. You need to research DB before hand and show them that you care about the company and what you bring to the table. The online tests are designed to test your ability so don't be discouraged if you find them difficult. As for the interviews, come prepared with research on DB as well as research in the field you are applying. But the main thing to be is yourself
