Overview
Using financial statements to check and correlate information given by other companies in different sectors such as real estate, NRES, professional services and more
Skills
I have developed my accounting software skills and my excel skills. My calling and casting , drafting and updating. Essentially how to use previous year information to make sure the current year aligns.
Responsibilities
Responsibility level depended on the sectors you were in. Some were high some were low. It also depended on the clients you were placed on.
Support & Guidance
I had support and guidance every single day of the internship and when I wanted it. It wasn’t micromanaging either. It was helping to understand and allow you to work at a pace suited to your understanding.
Culture
Amazing culture. Professional but lenient. You work at your own pace as long as the work is done before the deadline. It is a sociable environment in audit. Absolutely redefines what accounting is. You want to come in and actually work.
Your Impressions
There was nothing I didn’t enjoy. There are sometimes where you don’t get client work as you may not be on the client long enough but it’s often very rare and you still gain the experience of shadowing and understanding.
Yes
Be yourself. Come with an open mind. Apply in advance. Network and go onto insight days and programmes with the company prior. Apply for their brand ambassador role. Get them to notice you. Work hard. Remember that you don’t have to have perfect grades or be the perfect person as long as you treat people how you want to be reseated.
