Overview
I was an audit intern at BDO and my job entailed working on clients with a team of around 3-4 people. I was delegated work from my seniors and carried out the tasks which I was told to do. After finishing any work my senior would then hand me some more work or if there wasn't any work for the day, I would complete any trainings which I still had left to do.
Skills
I been able to understand in deeper meaning what and how to carry out an audit. The processes behind an audit and the team it takes to be able to complete an audit successfully. In addition to this, my excel skills have improved greatly, after working with excel everyday I picked up little shortcuts which made completing my work a lot easier.
Responsibilities
During the internship, I was given quite a bit of responsibility, if handed down a piece of work it was expected of me to get it done by the deadline or whenever the manager says to get it done by. This put a lot of responsibility on my shoulders as I had to make sure that no matter what, I was able to get the work done.
Support & Guidance
The whole time during my internship there was support wherever i looked. From my managers, people managers, other colleagues and even the other interns. Everyone was there for each other and if i ever had a question, it would never go unanswered.
Culture
The culture at the company is the main reason as to why i want to work for BDO. The social life in the office is just so amazing and you actually feel like one big happy family, the managers make you feel valued by complimenting you on tasks that you have completed. It was all very warm and welcoming.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship to the fullest. Each opportunity i had to learn, i took it and every chance to talk to new people and make new friends was also taken too. I would say this internship helped me a lot with my confidence and my communication skills.
Yes
Be yourself, BDO look at who you are as person and they actually value that aspect of people. They care about peoples feelings and want to make you feel like you've contributed to actually helping the company take one step closer to their goal.
