Overview
My role involved reviewing and checking that the information on the invoices and other supporting documents was matching with the client's transactions. I had to ensure that the transactions were authorised and legitimate. I have also been working on sample ticking, invoicing, and 'call and cast'. I also attended daily meetings with my audit team to discuss about the work and raise any issues.
Skills
I have developed many skills, including effective communication, organisation, time management, networking, and the ability to work both quickly and accurately.
Responsibilities
At the beginning of the internship, there was less responsibility on the work that I had to do. But as we were progressing during the weeks, I was given tasks with responsibility because it meant that the work I was doing was of high importance and would be reviewed by senior managers. However, I was satisfied with the work because I was given good support and guidance throughout my time at BDO.
Support & Guidance
I have received so much support during the internship, whether that was from my People Manager, the IT Team, the Audit trainees who I worked with, or the Managers I worked with for the different clients.
Culture
The company has a friendly and welcoming culture and all the people that I have met have been very nice and approachable, so definitely a great environment to be in. I had the opportunity to meet and connect with people from different backgrounds and learn so much about their experience at BDO. This experience has been invaluable and I'm thankful to BDO for giving me this opportunity.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed this internship and it has been an invaluable experience to me. So it taught me so much about the company and about myself. I was able to develop my skills and gain insight into so many different things, ranging from attending team meetings, working on different projects, and going to the client site with my team!
Yes
I've had a wonderful 6 weeks internship at BDO because I had the opportunity to connect with so many different people, work on various clients, and the ability to grow myself both personally and professionally. I would definitely recommend BDO to anyone looking to apply and I would advice to take all the opportunities that come your way. Make the most of every day and enjoy your experience!
