Overview
Managing partner hotel accounts. Seeing partner hotel account information on salesforce and the commercial opportunities for improvement. Calling partners and pitching these opportunities whilst discovering their needs. Alongside that working on a project to improve a specific business process in the company.
Skills
Learnt the about the Account Management Cycle, business strategy, how to use Salesforce and Tableau. Developed relationship management skills, industry knowledge.
Responsibilities
Yes, I had to work with important hotel accounts and call partners thus directly impacting the company's business.
Support & Guidance
Managers were very friendly and always ready to help, fellow employees always keen to explain and let me shadow them. When doing the project colleagues from other parts of the business were approachable and willing to share their knowledge. Dedicated training sessions both on Workday and in-person. Knowledge tests. Learning and leadership series. Huddle sessions and dedicated slack channels to resolve and discuss any issues. Extra learning resources on workday.
Culture
Very open and accepting company culture. Different events on most weeks such as summer social party, the CEO came gave a talk, intern social crazy golf. Culture very collaborative and flat, could easily approach senior management. Company wide events and talks about the importance of diversity and inclusion. Yoga on the rooftop terrace. WELL - Women in Expedia Learning and Leading active initiative. Little things like cupcakes on International Intern Day.
Your Impressions
The work itself was very varied. Good work-life balance and social opportunities kept morale high and motivated me. Definitely met my expectations and I would go back.

Make sure you express Expedia Groups key values in you interviews and assessments. Be brave, genuinely interested in others, sociable and curious. Make sure you ask questions about the opportunity and the company itself during you assessment center as one of the key values is Ask Questions/Be Curious.
