Overview
Worked in collateral technology as a full stack engineer. This involved taking requests from product owners and management and implementing the required changes to software for internal and external stakeholders
Skills
Angular, Bootstrap, Typescript, Java, Javascript, Python, NLP
Responsibilities
Yes I was given two projects to complete and left to myself as I did so, checking in periodically with my manager when necessary
Support & Guidance
Very little from my direct team and manager, but the extensive graduate network and buddy system provided the necessary support
Culture
The company culture was amazing and is the greatest selling point for the company. There were several planned social events as well as a community support activity. The work life balance is the best you will find in investment banking.
Your Impressions
The internship was a great networking and soft skills building experience. I feel I have made many strong life long connections. However, from a hard skills development perspective I found the experience to be lacking. The latter point will depend strongly on your team, line manager and experience coming into the program.
Yes
This is a great opportunity to meet many people and discover insights into the day to day at an investment bank, however as far as the internship program goes it is not a strong option for developing hard skills
