Overview
It was a fairly standard software engineering intern role. My team would have a few scrum meetings a day on top of architectural or design meetings. I would have a few intern events or team events a week that were really fun. Otherwise, I would be coding and working on my project.
Skills
Yes, software engineering is one of those fields where you're always learning. I learned a good deal of proprietary and open-source software stacks and really got to learn a lot about the field fro my team and mentors.
Responsibilities
I have interned here a few times and even the first internship had a surprising amount of responsibility and now I designed my own project and implemented it which was really cool.
Support & Guidance
The mentors and D&I connectors as well as the recruiters were always reaching out and answering questions I had as well as just being proactive.
Culture
Bloomberg is one of those places that felt very welcoming to me. They put a lot of emphasis on D&I and it's a pervasive part of workplace culture alongside teamwork and cooperation which has been fantastic as a new person.
Your Impressions
I have loved all my of my internships here and I have loved the willingness the company has to change what maybe worked or didn't work in order to make sure everyone had the best experience possible.
Yes
Reach out to a recruiter, they are a wonderful resource and really can help you navigate the process.
