Overview
Working on a project for one of Softwire's clients. It involves building software as part of a team, working on tasks individually and in pairs.
Skills
I learnt how to work on software in a team, and got much more familiar with Git. I also learnt a new programming language.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given responsibility to add new features to a repository used by many other parts of the team.
Support & Guidance
There was a lot of support. I had status chats with my manager every week, as well as weekly chats with a "Softwire mentor" about how things have been going.
Culture
It's a really good, laid-back atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, and the social aspects are really good too.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed this internship. The work I was doing felt meaningful since we were contributing to actual client projects, and I felt supported the entire way through. I developed a lot of new skills along the way too. I really enjoyed the many social events as well.
Yes
Everyone at the company (and therefore probably your interviewers) is so friendly so don't stress about the interview.
