Overview
Another group that monitors coherence and consistency of procedure raised a question regarding a particular model in use. My role was to answer properly in order to close this discussion. My typical day consist of some statistical tests, some data analyses, a small part of coding and a big part of meetings with colleagues and employees from other divisions. It is a nice way to work on something quantitative and also merge this with a more social context where you simply learn by speaking to others
Skills
Yes, definitely. My background is in Theoretical Physics so I had the chance to learn a small piece of the financial world dictionaries, nomenclatures and objects. I learnt how to build my own picture and solve the puzzle by joining pieces from very different origins. You are usually in the situation where you talk with many people of the same topic and gain insights from their comparison. This is for sure the skill I've developed the most
Responsibilities
I've been given a lot of responsibilities, for instance I've developed all my ideas, sometimes also without making them aware of that, and the team was fine with letting you ride the bike without the small wheels. Having said that, a key factor to allow something like that to happen was that the central theme of the project didn't have a huge impact on the business and so, in some sense, my work was more like a refinement that real key improvements, as you can expect from a summer internship for the first career step

Anyway, when I needed support or help there was always someone ready to have a chat with me. This was really useful and indeed the real gem of the experience
Culture
The culture of the company is amazing. GS is very inclusive. Everyone is kind and gentle, you can clearly perceive that it is important for every employee to feel/make others feel at home. There is always some social event and also networking ones, very useful if you want to expand your knowledge on different topics. Every single person is willing to cut out 30 minutes of its time to meet you (even if it is just for a quick chat!)

Yes
I do not think there is any really useful advice. They are going to find exactly what they are looking for if they are not afraid to speak up and meet people. The most important thing is that if you do not hide from opportunities, after the internship you will be a better person than the one who firstly joined. The firm is so huge that there is room for almost every you desire, you just have to find it!
