Skills
New: Sector Knowledge The above outputs Existing: Iterative Design processes Illustrator and InDesign Graphic Design
Responsibilities
I could not do much work on actual timed outputs as the graphic and design standard was very high. All my work during this internship were on theoretical, early stage or paused projects.
Support & Guidance
High. Team was small and relaxed, and were willing to provide guidance whenever needed. Often we would engage in chats about anything in the sector.
Culture
Stayed within the team. Felt the team was friendly and close, but isolated from the wider office, as the urban design culture was different. Different from my previous internship in Margaret Street.
Your Impressions
I found it very useful. Urban Design had been a frankly nerve wracking subject at uni and personal weak point. While I cannot call it my strength, it has improved greatly with the opportunity to work on real projects iteratively and with constant guidance. I feel more comfortable with the process of design and look forward to using it at uni and into my career.
Yes
Be as honest and friendly as you can. The specific roles which I was offered at Savills all came from interviews where I was able to build a rapport with the interviewers.
