The Role
Bit of a mixture, a lot of the work was managing data in excel which gets quite repetitive, but there were plenty of opportunities to get involved with more interesting work too.
They were always looking for my input in discussions and making sure I was busy and involved with their work as much as possible.
They gave advice if needed, they made sure I was happy with my job, and were approachable throughout the placement.
It varied, but sometimes I would be bored. The job was 9-5 but I would have liked to have been worked harder during those hours. Time goes slowly when your not busy.
I had my own roles within teams and my own projects do get on with. The work was important.
There's a lot of free training to be had if you're proactive. I did the ECDL - computing course. Its definately helped my Excel and Powerpoint skills plus I know a lot more about the banking sector.
The Company
Good. Relaxed, people are approachable, no huge pressure. However the office was normally very quiet with not much in the way of banter.
Well organised. Set roles and responsibilities. 1 month overlap between placement students to get trained up.
Plenty of opportunities to gain further training provided it was relevant to the job.

Enjoyed the placement but its not for me as a career. I won't be applying for a job. For those who do wish to return, they must go through the entire application process - no short cuts having worked there.
The Culture
Despite there being aorund 20 placement students, the social life was poor, and HR did little to help.
London rents are expensive unless your commuting from quite a distance. Food and drink is pricey.
Bars, pubs and clubs everywhere!
There were sports clubs to join through work, but the sports centre is quite far out in South West London. There are plenty of sports & other clubs scattered around London to join too.
