Overview
My role involved working on my internship project on a day to day basis, which was the main task over the duration of my internship. Alongside that, I integrated with the Wells discipline activities, and there is the opportunity to get involved with projects beyond your discipline and team.
Skills
Communication - I had to talk to various people from different disciplines to help me complete my internship project. This required being able to clearly and effectively communicate Critical Thinking - being able to think of ideas and solutions outside of the box Teamwork - utilising the strengths and expertise of others to help with my project
Responsibilities
I believe that I was given a large amount of responsibility as an intern at bp. The project I worked on would contribute to the business and add value to the operations of bp. This meant that I was responsible for something that would be used beyond my internship and by others in the team.
Support & Guidance
I was given a lot of support during my internship. Having a supervisor and line manager meant I had two official points of contact. However the Wells Interventions team in Aberdeen were very supportive in helping me settle in and answer any questions I may have had. There is a great culture of caring for one another and this was clearly evident during my internship.
Culture
Great company culture that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. The culture allows you to perform at your best through the freedom you have and the flexibility to suit your needs.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. It has been a great 10 weeks working for bp and it has been a great learning opportunity for my professional development.
