Overview
I was an investments intern. On a day-to-day basis I will be given a variety of client related tasks where I will help the team build the necessary reporting for a client or help gather information for a presentation. This can vary from risk analysis, portfolio dashboards, implementation statements or producing slide decks
Skills
I have learnt how to operate the Dream software to change a clients portfolio, as well as how to search for managers. I have also developed on my presenting skills and communication skills as there have been many opportunities to speak in front of people throughout the programme.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given responsibility as you was able to represent WTW when dealing and communicating with clients externally. Also, with work having deadlines, I was responsible for a number of client tasks which is good. I was also given the chance to write market commentaries and newsletter commentary which I was responsible for
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance during my internship whilst also being allowed to be independent. Managers and colleagues are always willing to help throughout the internship and are always available to answer questions. Everyone I worked with was very helpful and it was a great experience to have.
Culture
The company culture is very welcoming. It is a great atmosphere to work in as everyone is so willing to help each other and work well with each other. Everyone in the company is so willing to help and teach you new things and it is a very enjoyable place to work in as everyone gets along.
Your Impressions
My internship was a very enjoyable experience. I had the opportunity to work across a broad range of tasks, meet a lot of people, and learn so many new things so this has been very enjoyable.
Yes
I would advise anyone who is applying to be themselves and make sure they are able to communicate well. WTW do not expect interns to know a lot and make sure to teach you as much as they can on the internship, therefore they want to see whether you can work on a team and communicate well.
