Overview
I was part of the Mauritania & Senegal subsurface squad and my work involved using reservoir simulation to study the movement of water in the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field to inform the perforation decision for a well.
Skills
Definitely. I have learned how to use Nexus (a reservoir simulation tool), Spotfire and Power BI. I have also developed my Python skills and presentation skills. I have also developed my networking skills.
Responsibilities
Definitely. My work was crucial in making a perforation decision for one of the wells. Hence, it was very relevant to an ongoing real-life project. Over the course of this project, I had to work closely with Geologists, Petrophysicists, and more. So I was given much responsibility and the support I had helped me to deliver and add value to the project.
Support & Guidance
Everyone at BP is very approachable so I found it very easy to seek help from others (even those outside of my team) whenever I was stuck. The work culture at BP encourages one Team and every employee lives by that!
Culture
Awesome! Everyone is friendly and always willing to help. This made it very easy to interact with everyone across the organization. BP has a positive atmosphere and is a great place to work!
Your Impressions
I truly enjoyed every bit of it - so much so that I can't think of a better way that I could have spent my summer. The work-life balance is truly amazing and BP is a company I would like to work for in the future.
Yes
Try to understand the values of the company and tailor your application to highlight experiences that make you a perfect fit. And most importantly, let your individuality shine through as BP is very inclusive.
