Overview
With Group IT, we can have many different roles within it. I currently am doing a cyber rotation where my day to day involves having several talks or meetings and often preparing for a presentation. I also have a meeting with my line manager most days.
Skills
I’ve very much developed my skills in terms of presentation skills. As my degree didn’t really need reports, I never had the skills to but I have definitely learnt the skills of research and report building.
Responsibilities
We were giving relevant and meaningful tasks and were given enough responsibility that it did not feel like we didn’t do anything.
Support & Guidance
We had several avenues of support and guidance throughout and constantly had relevant and important feedback.
Culture
It was a very supportive and honest culture here, they allowed us to make mistakes and ask somewhat “stupid” questions as long as it was relevant enough. I never felt pressured to do anything I wasn’t comfortable in and it was a very social environment.
Your Impressions
I very much have been enjoying my placement so far and hopefully it will continue like this throughout.
Yes
Be honest during the interview, displaying an understanding that you have flaws and areas of development because they really like that.
