Overview
The role involved three weeks of training, followed by seven weeks of providing customer support to Bloomberg users. The procedures covered by the department include login-related issues, license installations and hardware troubleshooting.
Skills
I had the chance to significantly improve my phone etiquette and customer support skills, as well as the opportunity to improve my networking skills. Furthermore, we had the chance to take part in multiple trainings, ranging from emotional intelligence to how to best use LinkedIn to build our network.
Responsibilities
I was positively surprised by the degree of responsibility we were trusted to handle. This allowed us to fully experience the role and to get a good impression of what working in Bloomberg's customer support team would be like.
Support & Guidance
We received an incredible amount of support - not only from our Team Leaders and internship leads who were always available for catch-ups and feedback sessions, but also from people outside our department who were always happy to have a chat about their roles or shadow sessions and provided me with an incredible amount of insight into the functioning of the company as a whole.
Culture
Compared to previous internships I have completed, the company culture at Bloomberg is truly unique. I have not once been disappointed when reaching out to employees in other departments. Bloomberg really is an inclusive and diverse space where I have always felt welcome and where I have seen people receive incredible support from their colleagues and management.
