Overview
Worked on Project. This involved doing SQL all day long (data pulling is the job basically)
Skills
SQL
Responsibilities
Some level of responsibility in leading project. Not much responsibility if these recommendations are not considered
Support & Guidance
Very little. This was a very disappointing aspect. Almost no training at all for SQL and the training that was provided was very inadequate. Expectation to just know SQL even though it wasn't a requirement for the role
Culture
Company culture was ok. The firm makes a big deal about having an amazing culture, but this mainly refers to the work hours. I have seen more positive and collaborative culture elsewhere in company's which are considered to have worse culture.
Your Impressions
Didn't really enjoy it overall. I was largely disappointed with the nature of the internship. I thought it would involve more strategy and much much less SQL. Spent almost all day doing data. The role would be more tailored to data analysts and less to finance or strategy seeking grads.
No
Consider whether you want to spend all day doing SQL and data. This is not really a 'strategy role' it is a data role. If that's what you want then you will enjoy it. If it's not then I don't recommend it
