Overview
Overview of the role was to help developing better understanding on one of the oil reservoirs that bp operates. This was done mainly through analysing surveillance data obtained. My work was together with a team from different disciplines, so data integration between different disciplines was necessary. Daily tasks include stand-ups and collaborative sessions as a part of bp's agile working.
Skills
Yes, and from numerous perspectives. I was given opportunities to learn about oil and gas knowledge fundamentals. I was also able to analyse different types of data obtained, and integrated them together. The internship also helped me to develop my interpersonal and soft skills, especially through working together with a team.
Responsibilities
Yes, was given opportunity to work on real data and participate in actual business projects, which helps to contribute values to the company.
Support & Guidance
Received lots of support whenever I need them. My supervisor and team members were really helpful, and that helped me to build knowledge within short amount of time. Generally people in bp are really helpful and always happy to help, this is one of the things that I liked about the company. Interns were also told where to ask for support when they need.
Culture
Really welcoming, and everyone was willing to spend time explaining what their expertise or disciplines are. Diversity is also what I appreciate about the company, made friends across different countries around the world. Company has flexible working policy, encourages flexibility.
Your Impressions
Overall enjoyed it, it was a great and interesting experience as I learnt a lot of new things and expanded my connection. Having experience working for corporate was an interesting experience as well.
Yes
bp puts its value in front of many other things, which are reflected in the people and workplace of the company. Also the thought processes are really important, employers value the thinking style and logic of candidates, which are the most important bits of problem solving.
