Overview
Talking to different teams and finding out about the work they do. Carrying out smaller tasks such as news reviews to send out to your team.
Skills
Communication skills and greater knowledge of the markets.
Responsibilities
The internship gives a lot of autonomy, sometimes slightly too much. Though, you could use this time to go work on projects. The responsibility given was what you would expect of a summer intern.
Support & Guidance
Support for the individual teams could be slightly more guided, as it did feel like interning with 3 different companies at some points. But we were matched with 'buddies' within each team which was a great point of contact. Also, some great staff who provided guidance if needed.
Culture
Compared with other banks I have interviewed with, the Bank of America culture stood out as the best and most welcoming. Very people orientated and the majority of staff were more than welcoming and very keen to spend time with interns.
Your Impressions
I did enjoy the experience overall and am very happy I spent my time there. I was disappointed to find out that all international students did receive free accommodation though and the British did not, considering I live an unreasonable 4.5 hours away this seems very unfair to offer this to some and not others. Also, many HR events were cancelled and it was hard to connect without WhatApp which was not allowed.
Yes
Be honest and yourself during the interviews, remembering they have been asking all interviewees the same questions all day, don't be boring. They do not expect you to know everything when you start but an understanding of what is happening in the news and the affected markets will sure help.
