Overview
My role involved supporting multiple teams with anything in procurement that could occur on a day to day basis, this typically involved working on purchase orders and contracts. I also was assisting my teams with supplier onboarding and supplier information changes. I also dealt with any other ad hoc tasks that could come my way as an intern.
Skills
I can confidently say that i developed my current skill further than I ever thought i would, as well as picking up new skills like working in a professional environment and learning how to interact with my new colleagues.
Responsibilities
I would say i was given a lot of responsibility as I had the company's approval to approve orders of $100,00 or less which I thought was a big responsibility, I also worked with external clients representing IBM
Support & Guidance
I received a moderate amount of support however I would like to say that I could have asked for more help if I felt i needed it.
Culture
The company atmosphere was overall positive, however the company went through a lot of big changes which threw off the balance of the company.
Your Impressions
I had an amazing time on placement and feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to experience a year at IBM
Yes
Ensure you CV is punchy as IBM is highly competitive and you need to separate yourselves from the rest of the competition.
