Overview
I was primarily a UX designer in which I conducted competitive research, built wireframes and sometimes produced visual designs for clients such as BP, St Andrews Links, NHS and boots. I was also involved in internal work such as helping with big events and designing visuals to promote them.
Skills
I learnt how to use many design tools the main ones being Adobe, Sketch and Figma. I developed massively on my professional skills and presentation skills which came with building my confidence.
Responsibilities
From the very start I was given a lot of responsibility as they treat you as any other employee. This doesn’t mean you don’t get support as anyone is there to help whenever you need it.
Support & Guidance
They do not micro manage you and therefore you have a lot of responsibility and it is down to you how much you put yourself out there. However you can ask anyone for help and they will never turn you down and everyone there will support and guide you as much as you need.
Culture
In my area of the business the culture and atmosphere is amazing. It is very sociable and ensuring everyone is happy and their are events to get everyone networking is shown to be a big priority.
Your Impressions
I loved my intern year and have been lucky enough to return and am completing a degree apprenticeship with IBM. I would encourage anyone to apply as I have been able to build my career massively whilst also gaining some really good relationships.
Yes
It is a hard application process but being proactive will get you very far.
