Overview
Started at 9am. Looked through emails. Daily stand-up at 9:45. Rest of the day is with meetings with managers or people in team, and lots of coding.
Skills
Yes, developed more technical skills, new languages and understood how to write good industry-level code with testing.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was designed with a whole feature of a client-facing app. This meant that I had full ownership of my feature. I had to attend meetings with product managers and people in business, giving many demos, as well as be responsible for writing industry-standard, tested code.
Support & Guidance
A lot of guidance! Many workshops, and my team members always made sure to make time to answer any of my questions. They walked up to my desk, asked if I needed any help. And whenever I pinged them online, they'd reply instantaneously!
Culture
Collaborative, fun, not cutthroat at all. Felt very at ease to ask for help, or set up meetings for a quick catch up coffee. Also had my own mentors to call if I ever needed help.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed my internship. I think it would be great for anyone just starting out in tech. They get you up to scratch really quickly :)
Yes
Just apply! And make sure to network with as many people as you can. Don't just stick to your team - set up meetings with others in the company.
