Overview
My role was to work on a research project which aimed to reduce the computational time for a mathematical model. I worked with my co-intern on the same. We discussed our daily tasks with the team during the stand-ups and got insights into their work as well.
Skills
I improved my Python skills a lot and learnt the intricacies of TensorFlow 2.0 . My project heavily involved the use of TensorFlow, giving me an opportunity to understand it in depth.
Responsibilities
Being a private sider in the bank, I had access to loads of data. With this kind of access comes responsibility of maintaining the integrity of the data. I presented the final project (along with my co-intern) to the senior management of FRDC (Finance Risk Data Controls) at JPMorgan.
Support & Guidance
I had constant interaction with the business side in order to understand their needs and adjust our final deliverable according to the same. The business and Quantitative Research team were always accessible and helpful during my term.
Culture
The company culture was something that I loved the most. The way the company fosters the spirit of togetherness is unbelievable. My manager and her manager were both extremely helpful and understanding. I also shadowed a few other teams and everyone was very friendly and always willing to talk and help me understand their work.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship to the fullest. This is probably true for all interns in the Glasgow office. So much so that one of my co-interns (who is now a close friend) cried on the last day of the internship. The recruitment team was spot on with the selections! I couldn't have imagined making so many new close friends in such a short span of time!
Yes
Enjoy your time at the company and try and go to the office in person on as many days as possible. That helps you interact with many different people and learn from them.
