Overview
Working on a dedicated summer intern project. The internship involved 10 days of training where you learn about Bloomberg technologies and infrastructure. You then join your team and work on your project
Skills
I have learnt many new skills. In my case, I learnt how to use Dask, Spark and other distributed data processing libraries. I have also learnt more about agile development and finance in general
Responsibilities
Yes, interns get a lot of ownership and often work on projects that get released to production later.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance was great. As an intern you are assigned a mentor with whom you have daily/weekly catch-ups. You can also talk to other team members at any time. Everyone is very supportive and open to help
Culture
The company culture at Bloomberg was surprisingly good. You have very good working hours (in my case from 10 to 6) and there is not a lot of unnecessary pressure. You obviously work on very complex projects but everyone is very supportive and wants you to succeed
Your Impressions
The internship was great. We had many fun events outside of work during the whole summer and had many different networking events at the work place as well. Bloomberg has a very inclusive work culture and it is very easy to fit in
Yes
Make sure you research what Bloomberg does and why you want to join them before applying. Also grind Leetcode and System Design and don't forget to have fun while learning :)
