Overview
- Microsoft team meetings to allocate projects, discuss plans and the progress made towards project goals. - Calculating emission factors for materials to enable projects to proceed in a sustainable and low carbon way. - Researching initiatives that could help the company reach internal emission targets. - Outlining plans to help clients reach net zero. - Collating evidence of the most successful low carbon projects carried out within the company. - Doing presentations about research on low carbon schemes. - Bidding for projects alongside other companies, through the creation of proposals and evidencing the skills within the company to successfully carry out the work.
Skills
- Have improved my communication skills, through delivering presentations and communicating my plans to efficiently complete projects. - Have improved my problem solving skills, having a diverse series of tasks and unique challenges to overcome. - Developed an eye for detail, with extensive proof-reading required for my own work, and also when checking team members reports. - Have improved my understanding of excel commands and formulas. - Developed research skills, when populating presentations & collating information for reports. - Improved time-management, performing tasks for multiple projects everyday. - Improved my team-working skills, working with a diverse group of people on different projects.
Responsibilities
- In charge of collating evidence from a series of projects across the company to demonstrate the companies adherence to verification standards. - Allowed to contribute to projects with very tight deadlines. - Allowed to work independently on research tasks and conduct presentations by myself. - Was left responsible for managing my time during the week across multiple projects. - Carried out checks to a variety of reports within the team to ensure it met specifications. - Was the main contributor to many of the teams projects. - Wasn't a huge choice in which tasks I was able to do at a specific time.
Support & Guidance
- Issues with technology were common, but my manager helped me go through the process of contact HR and IT for help. - Where appropriate during projects I was sent links to information about the task. - There was always someone available to request help from on teams or emails. - Daily catchups to raise concerns and request support on a task. - Usually had multiple people working on each stage of the project so could share workload. - My manager had regular catchups to check on my wellbeing and the work I'd like to carry out. - Communication was excellent from the whole team, and I was always updated on any new resource that was being created.
Culture
- Daily team discussions, and everyone was keen to introduce themselves to you upon your arrival at the company. - Regular socials to get to know knew people. - On first day allocated buddies to eat lunch with. - Employees got along very well with each other, and a large group eats lunch together. - Subsidised events run by the company to support team-building. - A quick info message about yourself distributed via email upon starting at the company to help people get to know each other. - Trips offered to other offices across the company to get to know your employees from elsewhere.
Your Impressions
- I thoroughly enjoyed the range of tasks I was able to carry out. - I liked the social and environmental benefits I was able to achieve within my role. - I enjoyed the responsibility I was given to complete a presentation from start to finish and present to my team. - The vibe within my team and around the office was great. - Overly given administrative tasks, especially initially. - Given opportunity to work with other teams outside my exact role which was fantastic. - Able to develop my skills and experience building my confidence in my career.
Yes
- Leave yourself plenty of time to complete the initial application. - Make sure you are not on holiday when you get the test after initial application has been seen. - Brush up on your maths skills beforehand. - Make sure you are confident in using Microsoft teams. - Dive into as many different types of tasks as you can, ask to work on projects for different teams. - Make sure you are familiar with your job brief at the interview. - Relax, everyone is very friendly and welcoming!
