Overview
The role involved a lot of customer service and sales, but also involved working on and learning about many different aspects of the business. I would serve customers both over the phone and in person but also engage in marketing missions and business to business interactions. I would also prepare the cars for rental and ensure they were in the right place.
Skills
By continually interacting with both customers and employees from other businesses I massively increased my confidence in dealing with a variety of people. This was my first experience in sales and I found Enterprise's training to be very effective and opportunities were provided for me to practice this skill. I was very impressed by the management I witnessed at Enterprise and am encouraged by the possibility I will develop this skill.
Responsibilities
I was given multiple roles of responsibility. I was made vehicle health captain of my branch which is a very important responsibility because of related safety concerns. I was also often the only member of staff a customer would interact with from start to finish. I was also given bad debt accounts which were my responsibility to chase.
Support & Guidance
I received many training sessions on zoom and a great amount of support from those I worked with in person. I also received one to one training with my area manager and multiple one to one guidance sessions with my branch manager.
Culture
The company culture is very positive and welcoming. There is a major focus on hard work but with the understanding that this hard work will be compensated. There is also a large culture of internal competition at Enterprise which might not be for everyone but does encourage employees to strive for a great performance.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the placement and felt that it was worthwhile. You get what you put in and there was plenty of opportunities to apply myself.
Yes
Be prepared to work hard, learn lots and meet a wide variety of people. Understand that everyone from every level of management has been in your position before and so are always willing to help. The hard work is rewarded even for those only working for the business on a temporary basis with incentives such as 'Elite Club.'
