Overview
Joined meetings on projects including the Science Museum and Natural History Museum. Looked through tender documents for the Science Museum and picking the different sub contractors to start the work. In the Cost Consultancy team worked mainly landscaping phase 1 of a project on BimMeasure. Visited different sites.
Skills
Learnt how to use BimMeasure in measuring buildings and different elements of a building. Improved on my networking and communication skills. Learnt how to use excel much more in depth in taking actions down from meetings, providing documents. My confidence to speak more on tasks got better.
Responsibilities
I was given a decent amount of responsibility in providing documents to send to the client and also in cost consultancy measurements that needed updating to send final valuations to clients.
Support & Guidance
I was given a good amount of support to start and during my internship as I was introduced to new methods on working as a team and how a corporate environment operates.
Culture
Good atmosphere and nice culture with new practices being brought in. I was happy to see a decent amount of black people that work there made it easier for me to communicate with them as there is familiarity.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot the networking with other people on the internship and the general perks and day to day work in a new industry for me.
Yes
Be brave, do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and work hard to ensure you can progress as there is plenty of roles to progress into and grow in and out of work
