Overview
Spent one week in two different departments supporting your manager and team. Carried out jobs such as research, administration and drafting. As the first week was during London Tech Week, also got to attend events at the firm on a variety of topics including tech, retail and insurance. Also spend time getting to know the people in the team and asking them questions about the firm.
Skills
- Multi-tasking between having meetings and tasks you have to focus on - People skills - talking to people, asking questions to draw out responses, adjusting style to type of person - Commercial skills - seeing different departments and different perspectives
Business Insight
It was really interesting to learn about the firm and understand its underlying business rather than focusing solely on client matters. Get to set the bigger picture, and seems everyone in the firm has a role to play in business development and something that is key to help the firm grow. Got to understand the variety of roles available, and the extend of business and support services.
Culture
One thing that really stood out is that the culture is a lovely and genuine as advertised - everyone you speak to loves working at RPC and is excited about the work they are doing - everyone was happy to spend time talking to you and patience when asking them lots of questions getting to know the firm.
Your Impressions
Very much, it was a great experience and a came across a lovely place to work - with lots of opportunities and support to help people grow and find what they want to do.
Yes
At the centre of RPC is its people - its clients and its employees who make up the firm - getting a deep understanding of client's business needs and understand the type of person RPC is looking for.
