Overview
I was involved in managing corporate actions on behalf of Citi and its clients through running consistent reports with updates from such clients and utilising Citi's internal systems to effectively manage corporate actions, both existing and new.
Skills
The ability to use internal business systems, in all their complexity, to manage clients' equity and the importance of teamwork in facilitating daily performance.
Responsibilities
Not too much as to overwhelm me but not too little as to leave me completely without any tasks to accomplish throughout the day- a good balance.
Support & Guidance
A decent amount from HR and from those responsible for training, and an acceptable amount from my immediate team on day-to-day tasks. Beyond the first few weeks, it was assumed that I would bring my own concerns to the table rather than being checked up on frequently.
Culture
Excellent. Citi is highly multinational by its very nature and seems to have decent hiring practices- the company often emphasised a good blend of personal and collective development while remaining true to its principles.
Your Impressions
Very much- having come from a college scenario the year prior, it was great to come into an inclusive atmosphere where I could see the practicality of what I was learning. The internship certainly become more enjoyable as time went on and I settled into my role more and more.
Yes
Be open to other cultural perspectives while also bringing your own to the table. Focus on what you can bring to the team and specialise in and it will be appreciated by those around you.
