Overview
In the office around 09.00, left around 19.30. Tasks included: Performing data scrubbing/stratification analysis of loan-by-loan tapes Creating PowerPoint presentations Networking with people across the team Attending HR events such as Desk Presentations
Skills
Improved my Excel skills significantly, much more confident with a whole new arsenal of formulae that I am able to use in my everyday academic life but also for any future job/placement.
Responsibilities
Given significant amounts of responsibility, getting to produce real PowerPoints used to convey Citi's speciality within Securitization which were presented to clients, working on loan-by-loan analysis on ongoing transactions etc.
Support & Guidance
A lot of guidance was given. The "Buddy" system was pretty good, I am still in touch with my "Buddy", and HR did an amazing job as well to ensure everyone had the best chance of success
Culture
Amazing culture. They look for what a successful Analyst looks like, rather than what knowledge they have coming in, which means that as long as you show progress and a willingness to learn (this is very key for Citi), then you stand a good chance. This is quite different than some other banks.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the Internship very much and I felt that Citi was the place for me to start my career. Many people at Citi started their careers there and never went anywhere else, having been there for 10+ years, and it's easy to see why!
Yes
Your eagerness to learn and genuine interest in the business goes much, much further than whatever guides you read online about all these models you need to learn (in truth, many divisions don't do modelling at all!)
