Overview
I was assigned to an audit client and given various tasks to support the work the team was already doing. Each morning we had a team meeting to discuss what needed doing and there were plenty of people to support me when I needed it.
Skills
I was able to learn a lot about how the audit process worked, what it is like to work with a big 4 firm, and improve upon some of my existing excel skills. I also had an opportunity to develop some communication skills as there were various networking events throughout the 4 weeks.
Business Insight
The office was a great place to network and speak to different colleges about their experiences and the opportunities available. I was able to talk to people at all levels from other interns and graduate students, to various senior managers, directors and a meeting with an audit partner.
Culture
It is definitely a busy environment, but everyone seemed to have time to help when I needed it. I often saw people staying late in the office but there is quite a flexible work culture so for some they preferred to work this way and come in later.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the 4 weeks and have learned a lot about both audit and the big 4, I met a lot of great people and felt very included given the limited time I was there for.
Yes
Be yourself. Once you get through the numerical/verbal reasoning tests they are looking at your personality and ability to work in the team. Show an interest and passion to learn, and do some research on the industry and current events.
