Overview
Had three rotations between the Asset Risk, Market Risk and Pricing teams. Spent time creating forecasting models, answering ad-hoc queries from other parts of the business and contributed to the quarterly pricing round to price the cars available on the scheme.
Skills
Massively developed my Excel skills, also learnt some R and Python. Developed soft skills such as communication, problem-solving and adaptability.
Responsibilities
For the most part, yes. Although naturally there were some areas of work which would be left to senior colleagues as it required experienced people to carry out the work.
Support & Guidance
A good level - was provided with a buddy for more casual help such as getting to know people, and a mentor for discussions around goals and opportunities I wanted to explore during my year there.
Culture
Relaxed, fun environment. Never felt pressurized to work late, could dress fairly casually. Quite a social environment with lots of teams communicating between each other.
Your Impressions
Had a great time - was a good mix of exposure to professional life and a work environment, learnt a lot of useful skills but also felt quite relaxed and had fun in the office.
Yes
I would say the only problem with Motability Operations is that, in the teams I worked in at least, there is a fairly flat hierarchy, making it difficult progress quickly.
