Overview
The roles are quite varied. They range from consulting to developing and delivering. The day to day basis depends on the team, but it usually consisted of a daily standup, meetings with client if the role is client facing, team meetings and individual work. I have been given a lot of responsibilities; coding and delivering programming scripts to the team and leading client meetings.
Skills
I have developed presentation and public speaking skills while working on projects. I have also developed some more programming practices
Responsibilities
I was given quite a lot of responsibilities. I was leading meetings with the client. I also wrote entire scripts used by a large team
Support & Guidance
On a project, the support varied depending on the manager I had. The support was excellent for my second project but mediocre on the first one. It is very hard to get support when not on a project, it is difficult to know who to talk to (there are too many layers) and many people do not respond until a week later/at all.
Culture
The general atmosphere varied on the team and the project we were on. There were quite a few social after the covid restriction lifted, which was a great opportunity to meet people. The company is very inclusive. However, I found it hard to connect with people as there are too many people; it is quite easy to be left out.
Your Impressions
I did not enjoy the placement during the first 6 months because the onboarding process was chaotic and they assigned me to a project which did not correspond at all to the job description or to what I wanted to do. It was hard to get off the project. After I found a project, I started to enjoy it more.
No
Make sure you want to work for a big company and be open to work on projects that are not linked to your job description.
