Overview
My daily tasks consisted of networking with other applicants, whilst listening to employees of MUFG give talks about the cores and values of the company. Additionally, we were separated into breakout rooms accompanied with a recent graduate. During this time we participated in a Q&A session. Learnt about roles in the company which included roles that were different to traditional banking professions. Plus we were shown ways in which we could stand out in the application process.
Skills
During my time at the insight day, I was able to talk to various different MUFG employees and ask them questions about their experiences, how they got to their position and other inquires regarding MUFG. This allowed me to develop my communication and networking skills. Especially my networking skills as I was able to speak to other applicants each with similar backgrounds and ethnicity to me. We discussed our education history and potential job prospects.
Business Insight
I appreciated finding out about the culture of MUFG and what they stand for. MUFG have a very strong culture surrounding diversity and inclusion which found very comforting. This is because many corporate firms do not value the same attributes as MUFG. MUFG was extremely welcoming. They also had an emphasis on longevity and innovation which resonated with me also. Additionally, I enjoyed learning about the different potential roles available. We was provided with great information about summer internships and the graduate schemes they offer.
Culture
I found that the company culture resonated with me a lot. The premise of the event was to provide potential black heritage applicants with the information and insight to apply to MUFG. Thats a value I respect because MUFG understand how marginalised the black community are when is comes to the working world. Their importance on making sure everyone has a fair chance is something to be admired. The general atmosphere was joyful all throughout the insight day.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the Black Heritage Insight day to a large extent because it was massively enlightening and educational. The whole event was structured well, from start to finish we was constantly being informed with key facts about MUFG that I found incredibly insightful. There was various opportunities to network and increase my knowledge about the world of finance and all the different roles it has to offer. I especially liked talking to recent graduates and finding out about their journey.
Yes
The main tip I would give to anyone applying for MUFG, would be to research the culture, core and values that encapsulate everything that MUFG stand for. You need to make sure that the company’s morals and values aligned with yours so that you can make sure it is a good match for you. in addition to that I would say that networking is your best friend, using social medias like LinkedIn to advise and guide you throughout the application process. will greatly help you.
