Overview
My role involved specializing in Microsoft Security products such as Microsoft 365 Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and providing technical expertise to customers moving from on-premises to cloud-first and hybrid ways of working. It also involved engaging in partner sell-with scenarios by contributing to the facilitation of technical engagements and partnering with colleagues to manage the sales process, as well as reviewing customer interactions and raising competitive information to account teams to contribute to development and landing of compete strategies.
Skills
I have developed technical skills such as competence in Microsoft Azure cloud platform and Microsoft cybersecurity. I have developed soft skills such as business acumen, presentation delivery, and commercial awareness.
Responsibilities
I spent the first few months learning and upskilling. Then, I was given more responsibility and opportunities to work on client projects, deliver presentations to stakeholders from enterprise companies including C-level (CISO, CTO), and further expand my business awareness by contributing to side projects.
Support & Guidance
I received good support from the University Recruitment team which ensured a smooth onboarding process. In my team, I had a buddy and a mentor who were happy to answer my questions and provide coaching sessions so I can learn more about the work. I also had the opportunity to deliver mock presentations and demos to my buddies/mentors to understand what I am doing well and what I need to improve on for the actual customer demos.
