Overview
Attended presentations by employees on the graduate scheme, completed team work challenges such as a spaghetti tower competition, took part in a site visit in an active site managed by Mace in the city centre, and attended a networking event.
Skills
Presentation and communication skills through collaborating with new people within a team and presenting to the insight cohort as a whole.
Business Insight
They gave very detailed presentations on all the roles available and answered all questions on the details of these. We heard from construction managers, project managers and quantity surveyors and learnt what each of these roles entailed. We were also given an in depth presentation on the graduate scheme process, tips on interviews, and other placement opportunities they offered (e.g summer/year long).
Culture
General atmosphere was very welcoming and the office was clean and had a modern design.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight to a large extent. The opportunities it provided were very valuable and it was good to step outside of my comfort zone and meet new people, building confidence.
Yes
Be yourself in the application! They understand not everyone knows what they want to do after university… The insight provides a great opportunity to explore the different paths you could take after uni.
