Overview
I am currently helping designing print and pattern for autumn/winter 23, particularly creating prints and repeat patterns on photoshop and other software. These prints will go on home ware products. Furthermore, I attend design team meetings weekly, were as a team we discuss and chat up. - Helping with colour swatches, colour amendments and just helping out in general.
Skills
I have learnt lots of new skills! My photoshop/ software sills have developed so much whilst working at Matalan. As well as my general confidence in myself and becoming a team player.
Responsibilities
I believe that I was given a lot of responsibility whilst working at Matalan. I was given a mentor who would set me tasks and help me out when I had questions, but still did lots of independent tasks. This improved my confidence and skills massively.
Support & Guidance
I had a mentor so I would go to her when I finished tasks and had questions, but the whole team at home ware were very helpful.
Culture
Everyone was really lovely and got on so well, this made me feel very welcomed. The facilities are great there's kitchen all over the building, a large bistro and a costa coffee station. Overall, it's a really lovely place to work!
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement at Matalan I feel I got a lot from it and loved working with the home ware design team.
Yes
Researching to find good contacts is very important, as well as being persistent. A great cv and portfolio depending on what the job role is, is also key.
