Overview
Supporting the departments you are put in, learning what they do. In sales you learn to be a shift manager, in HR may work in recruitment and personnel, in Logistics you spend time in the warehouse and in Supply chain you deal with stores and their stock levels as well as communicate with suppliers. Daily tasks include checking emails and communicating with colleagues, responsibilities include finishing tasks when due.
Skills
I have learned the importance of communication skills, time management skills, meeting deadlines, how to act and react quickly when something doesn't go to plan. As well as the importance of professionalism and creating strong working relationships.
Responsibilities
Yes, during recruitment I was responsible for the ongoing recruitment of a specific warehouse that wasn't our region. During this time I had to recruit 150 people which proved to be difficult as the job role was demanding and required commitment from employees to train away from home for 3 months. Furthermore, I was a shift manager in store so I was responsible for the main safe and the tills given out to employees every day.
Support & Guidance
Alot, my Regional Training Consultant was my main point of contact, she was always available for a chat. My RTC guided me and gave me a lot of feedback which I acted on to better my skills during my year. Additionally, in all my rotations there was always a manager who trained me and set me tasks, these were additional points of contact during my year.
Culture
The company culture and the general atmosphere were great, it was fun but also serious in the best way. I feel like everyone at Lidl had a certain type of personality which creates a great working environment. Everyone is so inclusive, happy and welcoming to new members.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it so much. It was one of the best years of my life. It was full of learning and gaining new experiences which I will never forget in my professional career.
