    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Over the course of 3 days, we got a well-rounded overview of the Financial Advisory business at Lazard: its history, culture and people. We got to spend one-on-one time with an Analyst at their desk, learning more about the work they do day to day. In addition to this, we took part in skills workshops run by industry experts and product teams, as well as presenting a group project to an associate within the firm.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During the insight programme, I was able to gain exposure to the intricacies of investment banking and develop my analytical skills through valuation training with FitchLearning. In addition, I refined vital communication and interpersonal skills through a group presentation to an associate within the firm. I have been able to further develop these skills on Lazard's Spring into Summer Programme, which supports the transition into a summer analyst role.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • To help spring participants understand all areas of Lazard's financial advisory business, bankers from across both sector and product desks presented on their teams throughout the insight programme. In addition to this, we got to spend one-on-one time with an Analyst "buddy" to further understand their role within the business.

There was a clear emphasis on learning as they invested multiple days to train us on both financial valuation and understanding advisory teams on a sector and product level.
