Overview
Private Equity Summer Intern in an investments role. Inthe investments team the primary goal is to analyse incoming deals by carrying out due diligence, preparing pitch deck presentations to present to the investment committee Majority of work day to day will be working on deals in deal teams of 3-5 people. You will be analysing the companies and working with seniors to to engage with the the companies management team.
Skills
Learnt how to interpret complex financial models. Learnt how to analyse a companys business model. Learnt how to create effective powerpoint presentations.
Responsibilities
I was placed into deal teams and also was able to sit in on calls with CEOs. Really great responsibility even as an intern.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support from manager. Everyone was willing to take out an hour to explain something to me. However, many tasks required a lot of learning quickly and completing tasks with little information.
Culture
Supportive friendly culture in the team. Inclusive and diverse.
Your Impressions
The internship was invaluable in terms of the learning and exposure I was given even as an intern. I was always working on meaningful work and my hard work was recognised. I was even able to have a trip to Edinburgh to meet the rest of the team which was amazing.
Yes
Culture is super important. Be humble but ambitious. Abrdn really value innovation and a futuristic mind so make sure to have examples of this.
