Overview
The insight gave a well-rounded view into Lazard's banking and day-to-day operations. For the 3-day programme, the interns interacted with bankers from various product and sector teams within Lazard, and learnt about each team and their work and tasks. Interns also networked with each other and collaborated on group projects and tasks required throughout the insight.
Skills
I developed my teamwork and communication skills especially throughout the Insight Programme. I was able to collaborate and network with many students from different backgrounds, and be able to learn from them and their past experiences. I also developed my valuation skills, as we had a training session from an external company on Valuations.
Business Insight
Lazard provided many details into further opportunities available at the firm. We, as interns, got the opportunity to hear from current employees about how they progressed to their current role, and what skills they developed to excel in their jobs. Lazard provided an excellent insight into their businesses. Employees from all teams spoke to us about how their work contributes to Lazard's operations.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere was very pleasant. Employees were helpful and willing to answer any questions that students had. Members of the HR Graduate Recruitment Team were always around to support students and to help them with any concerns. The teams in which I was exposed to seemed genuine and inclusive.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the Spring Insight Programme. I got lots of exposure to Lazard as a firm and what tasks and transactions the teams may work on. I noticed that the teams interacted with each other a lot, and that communication skills were vital for this. I was very happy with the networking opportunities available. I was very impressed with the support given to me by my buddy throughout the programme.
Yes
I would say to make sure your application stand out. Lazard take interns from all different degree courses, so having a genuine interest in financial advisory and having a hobby that is unique to you is important. Showing in your cover letter that you have researched the bank is also important.
