Overview
I was an investments intern at abrdn in 2022. I worked on different projects, the day to day included usually team meetings, ad hoc tasks (modelling a small thing in excel), working on your main project and other side projects you worked on. Everyday was different which I really liked.
Skills
I learnt a lot on excel and also learnt a lot of soft skills and communication skills which was great. The program offers some intern trainings but most of the training comes from the desk and you need to be proactive in taking those trainings and learning those skills.
Responsibilities
In my experience the amount of responsibility you were given really depended on you and how much you asked to be involved which was great. I personally tried to be involved as much as I can. Overall I am very happy with the amount of responsibility given and the amount of trust they had in me. Everything you did was a really world project.
Support & Guidance
This I believe could have been better, I am really happy with the amount of support and training I got in the end, but during busy periods they would sometimes just leave you to figure stuff out, which is expected but I think was in times a bit too much.
Culture
Amazing! I truly believe they have one of the best cultures out there, everyone is so friendly and helpful, didn't feel intimidated at all.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it. Got a lot of it, networked with a lot of people and learnt a lot while also having fun.
Yes
Research a lot about them especially before and after the rebranding and try to connect with people working there.
