Overview
Throughout the week, there were several zoom calls where insight into the company and the available teams were provided. This was followed by opportunities of networking with graduate recruits, and directors. Alongside this, I shadowed my mentor, gaining experience and skills in both the Building and Project Consultancy team and the Dilapidations team; this included comparing leases, practicing creating minutes, and creating recommendation for payments, and going on various site visits.
Skills
I learned many new skills, including when I sat in on a Teams meeting, and practiced making minutes and then subsequently creating these. This is alongside the development of confidence nd networking skills which I strengthened through the opportunities to meet with graduates and directors.
Business Insight
It was extremely insightful, as there are many teams in the company, and being able to listen on Zoom to the explanations of potential day-to-day roles, alongside speaking to graduates who rotate around the company, provided a lot of valuable information.
Culture
Whoever I spoke to praised the company and it was clear to see the community atmosphere. Colleagues were always happy to help, and this was seen from graduates to directors.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the Insight program and the structured nature provided lots of opportunities for learning and strengthening experience and knowledge about the available offerings of the company in a non-intimidating way.
Yes
Do not be nervous, definitely apply and throw yourself into communicating with those on the scheme and those in the company, as everyone is there to help and strengthen your experience. Take every opportunity and do not be afraid to make mistakes, as there was a complete understanding and it was just wanted that we were here to learn and try things out.
