Overview
The insight programme showed how heritage consultancy operated the the structures in which they work. I undertook research on site proposals in order to prepare for heritage statements. I was also shown the legislation and archival resources that are used to analyse structures and whether their proposals are viable. On Monday, we did a site visit to Surrey in which we met the Architect and discussed plans and alterations to the said property.
Skills
I have developed existing research skills through learning about legislative guidance and archival resources used by heritage consultancies and local authorities.
Business Insight
It was interesting learning about the different sections of the global business and how differing departments work together on large scale projects.
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere was nice, everyone seemed very friendly and motivated by their work.
Your Impressions
To a large extent, I enjoyed the placement as i learned valuable knowledge about how the private sector operates and the tasks that heritage consultants undertake.
Yes
Show your enthusiasm and speak of work experience that doesn't necessarily correlate by emphasising the skills learnt from that and how they transfer.
